Mtamu Kililo is an ardent impact design enthusiast, passionate about a more equitable and just Africa. He envisions a reality of this passion through design processes and products that promote economic stimuli and resilience especially in under-served groups.
He is the co-founder and CEO of MycoTile, a company that offers alternative building materials in Kenya. The materials are manufactured locally using readily available agricultural waste and rapidly growing mushroom mycelium as a bonding agent.
An alumni of the African Design Centre in Kigali, a fellowship programme by MASS Design Group that trains and empowers the youth to become creative design leaders, he is currently also a Consulting Architect at Cave_bureau, a Nairobi based bureau of architects and researchers charting explorations into architecture and urbanism within nature.
