Maisa Rojas

Minister of Environment, Ministry of Environment, Chile

Maisa Rojas holds a PhD in atmospheric sciences from Oxford University, UK. She has held the position of associate professor in the department of geophysics of the University of Chile and director of the Climate and Resilience Science Centre (CR2). Her research areas are paleoclimate and regional climate change. She has also worked in impact assessments of sectors such as agriculture and water resources with numeric climate models as her main analysis tool. 

Rojas was coordinator of the scientific committee for UNFCCC COP25 at the Ministry of Science of Chile. She was member of the Presidential Advisory Council for COP25 and participant of the Chilean delegation at COP26. She also coordinated the Scientific Advisory Committee on Climate Change. Rojas was a leading author of the Fifth Assessment Report of IPCC, AR5, and she also participated as coordinating author of the Sixth Assessment Report, AR6.
