The SourcePost: Rwanda launched a national circular economy action plan with $211M for implementation

During the first day of the World Circular Economy Forum 2022, the host country Rwanda launched a 14-year national circular economy action plan and the waste and circular economy project road map. For implementation of the action plan, investment of $211 million will be needed.

Rwanda’s vision is to be a carbon-neutral and climate resilient nation by 2050. Both the action plan and road map will contribute to this vision through value retention, reduction of waste and the creation of new economic opportunities.

The national circular economy action plan and road map provide concrete policy actions and a clear direction for the transition to a circular economy. The ultimate objective is to contribute to the country’s long-term ambition of having a clean and healthy environment resilient to climate change, and that supports a high quality of life for Rwandan society.
