Practical implementation of the Basel PIC procedure for exporters from developing countries

What are the biggest challenges of transboundary movements of hazardous waste and how can they be overcome? This will help leverage the opportunity in collecting and recycling waste from developing countries.

The Basel PIC procedure is an important process for developing countries to build a good recycling industry and to be able to export waste. However, the process is complicated and unclear. As a follow-up to the paper that was published as a joint PREVENT/StEP initiative, this session will explore the necessary next steps.

The session will work to help the industry cooperate with authorities and comply with these regulations.
